If a job is not the right path for you, but you want to be more independent and be an active member of your community, OPWDD offers day habilitation services that provide personal, social and vocational supports. The New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is responsible for coordinating services for New Yorkers with developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, Prader-Willi syndrome and other neurological impairments. With the reopening of day programs, OPWDD is requiring all day service provider agencies as well as our state-operated day service programs to post safety plans for each location so families, caregivers and Care Managers can make decisions about each individual’s participation in day programs. Self-Direction gives you the chance to choose your own services so you can live the life you want.

OPWDD is committed to helping individuals with I/DD live richer lives, and creating stronger person–centered services, now and in the future. The CCO/HH model provides a strong, stable, person–centered approach to holistic service planning and ensures the delivery of integrated quality care that supports the needs of individuals with I/DD.
